Skip the long oven wait and get perfect baked potatoes in a fraction of the time with your air fryer! Crispy skin on the outside and fluffy, tender insides, these baked potatoes are the perfect side dish for any meal or a simple, satisfying snack.
Ingredients (Serves 4)
- 4 medium russet potatoes (or your preferred variety)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- Salt, to taste
- Black pepper, to taste
- Optional toppings: Butter, sour cream, shredded cheese, chives, bacon bits, etc.
Instructions
- Prep the potatoes: Wash and scrub the potatoes thoroughly to remove any dirt. Pat them dry with a towel. Using a fork, poke a few holes in each potato to allow steam to escape while cooking.
- Season the potatoes: Rub each potato with olive oil and sprinkle with salt and pepper to your taste. This will help create a crispy, flavorful skin.
- Preheat the air fryer: Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for about 3-5 minutes.
- Cook the potatoes: Place the prepared potatoes in the air fryer basket. Make sure they are arranged in a single layer, not overcrowded, for even cooking. Cook at 400°F (200°C) for about 35-40 minutes, depending on the size of the potatoes. Flip them halfway through the cooking time for even crisping.
- Check for doneness: The potatoes are done when they are soft inside and the skin is crispy. You can check by inserting a fork or knife into the center—if it goes in easily, they’re ready!
- Serve: Remove from the air fryer and let them cool for a couple of minutes. Slice them open, fluff the insides with a fork, and add your favorite toppings.
Tips
- Different potato types: While russet potatoes are the most common for baked potatoes, you can also use sweet potatoes or small red potatoes. Adjust the cooking time as needed.
- For an extra crispy skin, you can rub a bit more olive oil on the potatoes before cooking.
- Top it off: Go classic with butter, sour cream, and chives, or get creative with cheese, bacon bits, and even broccoli for a loaded potato!
