This Caprese Salad is a fresh and flavorful Italian classic. Made with ripe tomatoes, creamy mozzarella, fresh basil, and drizzled with olive oil and balsamic glaze, it’s simplicity at its best!
Ingredients
(Serves 6 as a side salad)
- 1 1/2 lbs ripe tomatoes (3–4 medium), sliced 1/4” thick
- 12–16 oz fresh mozzarella, sliced 1/4” thick
- 1 bunch fresh basil (1/3 cup basil leaves)
- 3 Tbsp extra virgin olive oil, for drizzling
- 1/2 tsp sea salt, or to taste
- 1/4 tsp black pepper, or to taste
- 2 Tbsp balsamic glaze, or to taste (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the Ingredients
- Slice the tomatoes and mozzarella into 1/4-inch thick pieces.
- Assemble the Salad
- On a serving platter, layer the tomato slices and mozzarella, alternating each piece so both are visible.
- Tuck fresh basil leaves between the cheese and tomato slices for a vibrant, layered presentation.
- Season and Dress
- Sprinkle the salad generously with sea salt and black pepper.
- Drizzle extra virgin olive oil over the entire dish.
- Add balsamic glaze (optional) to taste for a tangy sweetness.
