Ingredients
- For the Apples:
- Cooking spray
- 4 tbsp melted butter
- 1 tbsp packed brown sugar
- 1 tbsp granulated sugar
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 4 apples (your favorite baking variety)
- 8 chewy caramel squares
- Breyers Natural Vanilla ice cream, for serving
- Caramel sauce, for drizzling
Directions
Oven Method:
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat the oven to 375°F and lightly grease a medium-sized baking dish with cooking spray.
- Prepare the Butter Mixture: In a small bowl, whisk together the melted butter, brown sugar, granulated sugar, and cinnamon.
- Prepare the Apples: Slice the top off each apple. Use a corer to remove the core, and if needed, use a small spoon to remove any leftover core. Make two circular cuts around the apple, then carefully slice crosswise, ensuring not to cut through the core.
- Stuff and Bake: Place the prepared apples in the greased baking dish. Stuff each apple with two caramel squares and brush the butter mixture over the top. Bake for about 30 minutes, or until the apples are tender.
- Serve: Serve warm with a scoop of Breyers Natural Vanilla ice cream and a drizzle of caramel sauce on top.
Air Fryer Method:
- Prepare the Butter Mixture: In a small bowl, whisk together melted butter, brown sugar, granulated sugar, and cinnamon.
- Prepare the Apples: Slice the top off each apple, core them using a corer, and make circular cuts as described above.
- Stuff and Air Fry: Stuff each apple with two caramel squares, brush the butter mixture over the apples, and place them in the air fryer basket. Air fry at 350°F for about 20 minutes, or until apples are tender.
- Serve: Serve the apples warm with ice cream and drizzle with caramel sauce.
Tips & Notes:
- Apple Variety: Use a firm apple variety like Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, or Gala for best results.
- Air Fryer Tip: Depending on the size of your apples, you may need to adjust the cooking time slightly. Check for tenderness after 15 minutes to ensure they don’t overcook.
- Make Ahead: You can prepare the apples and stuff them in advance, then bake or air fry them just before serving for a quick dessert.
