Ingredients (Serves 4-6)

For the Chicken Wontons:

  • 200g (7 oz) ground chicken
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon green onions, finely chopped
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 24 wonton wrappers
  • 1 tablespoon water (for sealing wontons)

For the Soup Broth:

  • 4 cups chicken broth (low sodium)
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger
  • ½ teaspoon white pepper (optional)
  • ½ cup bok choy or spinach, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons green onions, for garnish
  • 1 teaspoon chili oil (optional, for spice)

Instructions

Step 1: Make the Chicken Wonton Filling

1️⃣ In a bowl, mix ground chicken, soy sauce, sesame oil, ginger, garlic, green onions, salt, and black pepper until well combined.

Step 2: Assemble the Wontons

2️⃣ Place 1 teaspoon of filling in the center of a wonton wrapper.
3️⃣ Dip your finger in water and wet the edges of the wrapper.
4️⃣ Fold the wonton into a triangle, pressing the edges to seal.
5️⃣ Bring the two opposite corners together and press to form a classic wonton shape.
6️⃣ Repeat with the remaining wrappers.

Step 3: Cook the Broth & Wontons

7️⃣ In a pot, heat sesame oil over medium heat. Add garlic and ginger, and sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant.
8️⃣ Pour in chicken broth, water, soy sauce, and white pepper. Bring to a simmer.
9️⃣ Carefully drop the wontons into the broth and cook for 4-5 minutes, until they float.
🔟 Add bok choy or spinach and let it wilt for 1 minute.

Step 4: Serve & Enjoy

1️⃣1️⃣ Ladle the soup into bowls and garnish with green onions and chili oil (if using).

🍽️ Serve hot and enjoy with extra soy sauce, dumpling dipping sauce, or a side of steamed rice!
