Cream Cheese Cookies

Ingredients

  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ tsp baking powder
  • ¼ tsp salt

Optional Topping:

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven:
    • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone mats.
  2. Cream the Butter and Sugar:
    • In a large bowl, beat butter, cream cheese, and sugar until light and fluffy, about 2–3 minutes.
  3. Add Wet Ingredients:
    • Mix in the egg and vanilla extract until fully incorporated.
  4. Combine Dry Ingredients:
    • In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing just until combined.
  5. Shape the Cookies:
    • Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough and roll into balls. Place them on the prepared baking sheets about 2 inches apart. Flatten slightly with your fingers or the back of a spoon.
  6. Bake:
    • Bake for 10–12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
  7. Decorate (Optional):
    • Dust with powdered sugar or add sprinkles before baking for a festive touch.

Notes

  • For a flavor twist, add a pinch of lemon zest or almond extract to the dough.
  • These cookies store well in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days or can be frozen for up to 2 months.
