Description
These Creamy Garlic Parmesan Brussels Sprouts with Bacon are about to become your new favorite way to enjoy Brussels sprouts! Sautéed Brussels sprouts are smothered in a cheesy garlic sauce, combined with crispy bacon, and baked with a golden, bubbly mozzarella and parmesan topping. This flavorful side dish is rich, creamy, and the perfect addition to any meal.
Ingredients
- 10 ounces bacon, cut into strips
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 pounds Brussels sprouts, washed, trimmed, and halved
- 1 pinch salt, to season
- 1 pinch pepper, to season
- 5 cloves garlic, finely chopped
- 1 ½ cups light cream or heavy cream
- 1 ½ teaspoons cornstarch mixed with 1 tablespoon water (optional)
- ⅓ cup mozzarella cheese, shredded or grated
- ¼ cup parmesan cheese, shredded or grated
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Fry the bacon in a large oven-safe skillet over medium heat until crispy. Use a slotted spoon to transfer it to a paper towel-lined plate. Set aside.
- Drain most of the bacon fat from the pan, leaving about 1-2 tablespoons for flavor. Melt butter in the same pan, add the Brussels sprouts, and season with salt and pepper. Stir occasionally and cook for about 6 minutes, allowing the edges to crisp and slightly char.
- Add the garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant. Pour in the cream and reduce heat to low, letting it simmer until the Brussels sprouts are tender (about 3-4 minutes).
- If the sauce is too thin, mix in the cornstarch slurry and stir until combined.
- Stir the bacon into the Brussels sprouts and top with mozzarella and parmesan cheese. Bake for 15 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly and the Brussels sprouts are cooked to your liking. For a browned top, broil for 2-3 minutes.
- Season with extra pepper if desired, and garnish with fresh herbs like parsley, thyme, or rosemary.
Notes
- Tip: Be sure to scrape up all the flavorful browned bits at the bottom of the pan for added taste!
