creamy homemade hot chocolate

Ingredients:

  • 5 cups whole milk
  • 14 oz can of sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (or more, to taste)
  • Whipped cream (for topping)
  • Ground cinnamon (for garnish)

Instructions:

  1. Pour the whole milk into a medium-large pot and heat over low heat. Make sure to keep the heat low throughout the process to prevent burning.
  2. Add the sweetened condensed milk, semi-sweet chocolate chips, and vanilla extract to the milk. Stir regularly.
  3. Let the mixture simmer gently for about 30 minutes, stirring often to ensure the chocolate and milk don’t burn on the bottom.
  4. Once the mixture is hot and smooth, transfer whipped cream into a mixing bowl and stir it gently with a spoon to reduce any extra bubbles, making it smooth and creamy.
  5. Ladle the thick and creamy hot chocolate into mugs and top with the smooth whipped cream.
  6. Sprinkle ground cinnamon across the top for an added touch of flavor and presentation.
