Doritos Taco Salad

Doritos Taco Salad is a fun and flavorful twist on a classic taco salad. This dish combines seasoned ground beef, crisp lettuce, fresh veggies, shredded cheese, and the irresistible crunch of Doritos, all tossed in a zesty dressing. Perfect for parties, potlucks, or a quick and delicious weeknight meal!


Ingredients:

  • 1 lb (450g) ground beef
  • 1 packet taco seasoning mix
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 6 cups chopped romaine or iceberg lettuce
  • 2 cups cherry tomatoes, halved
  • 1 cup canned black beans, rinsed and drained
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup diced red onion
  • 1 cup corn kernels (fresh, canned, or frozen and thawed)
  • 2 cups Nacho Cheese Doritos, crushed
  • 1 cup Catalina or French dressing

Optional Toppings:

  • Sliced black olives
  • Sour cream
  • Guacamole
  • Salsa

Instructions:

  1. Cook the Ground Beef: In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned. Drain any excess fat. Add the taco seasoning and water, stirring to combine. Cook for 2-3 minutes until the mixture thickens. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  2. Prepare the Salad: In a large salad bowl, layer the chopped lettuce, cherry tomatoes, black beans, shredded cheese, red onion, and corn.
  3. Assemble the Salad: Add the cooked taco meat to the salad. Just before serving, toss in the crushed Doritos and drizzle the Catalina dressing over the top. Mix gently to combine.
  4. Serve: Top with optional toppings like sour cream, guacamole, or salsa for extra flavor. Serve immediately for the best texture and taste.
