Ingredients:
- 1 lb (450g) ground beef
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 3 medium potatoes, thinly sliced
- 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon olive oil (optional, for greasing the pan)
- Fresh parsley (optional, for garnish)
Instructions:
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with olive oil or cooking spray.
- Cook the Ground Beef: In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef and diced onion until the beef is browned and cooked through. Drain any excess fat, then season with garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
- Prepare the Sauce: In a bowl, mix the cream of mushroom soup and milk until smooth.
- Assemble the Casserole: Arrange half of the potato slices in an even layer on the bottom of the baking dish. Top with half of the ground beef mixture, then pour half of the soup mixture over it. Repeat the layers with the remaining potatoes, beef, and soup mixture.
- Add the Cheese: Cover the dish with foil and bake for 45 minutes. Remove the foil, sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese on top, and bake uncovered for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Serve: Garnish with fresh parsley if desired and serve warm.
