Ingredients:
For the Rolls:
- 4 1/2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 2 tablespoons minced garlic
- 3 1/2 cups + 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
- 3 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
- 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
- 2 1/4 teaspoons instant yeast
- 1 teaspoon fine sea salt
- 1 cup whole or 2% milk, warmed to 110°F (43°C)
- 1 large egg, room temperature
- 1 beaten egg (for brushing the tops)
For the Garlic Butter:
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 tablespoon minced garlic
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
- Flaky sea salt (for finishing)
Instructions:
- Prepare the Baking Pan:
Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C). Lightly butter the bottom and sides of a 9×13-inch baking pan and set it aside. - Make the Garlic Butter:
In a small pot, melt 4 1/2 tablespoons of butter and add the minced garlic. Cook for 1-2 minutes until fragrant. Remove from heat and let it cool. - Prepare the Dough:
In a stand mixer, combine the flour, chopped parsley, granulated sugar, instant yeast, and sea salt. Add the warm milk, egg, and the cooled garlic butter mixture. Mix until the dough begins to come together. Knead the dough on medium speed for 5-7 minutes until it is smooth and elastic. - Let the Dough Rise:
Shape the dough into a ball and place it in a lightly greased bowl. Cover it with a damp towel and allow it to rise for 1 hour, or until doubled in size. - Form the Rolls:
Punch the dough down and divide it into 12 equal portions. Roll each portion into a ball and arrange them in the prepared baking pan, making sure they are close together. Cover with a towel and let the rolls rise for another 30-45 minutes. - Bake the Rolls:
Brush the tops of the rolls with the beaten egg. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the rolls are golden brown. - Prepare the Garlic Butter (for finishing):
While the rolls are baking, melt 2 tablespoons of butter in a small pan. Add the minced garlic and cook for 1-2 minutes until fragrant. Stir in the chopped parsley. - Finish the Rolls:
Once the rolls are done, remove them from the oven and immediately brush the tops with the prepared garlic butter. Sprinkle with flaky sea salt for the perfect finishing touch.
