Ingredients
For the Cake:
- 1 (15.35 oz) package of Oreo cookies
- 1 (8 oz) package cream cheese, softened
- 1 (5.1 oz) box vanilla instant pudding mix
- 2 ½ cups cold milk
- 1 (8 oz) container whipped topping (Cool Whip)
- ½ cup powdered sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
For Garnish (Optional):
- Gummy worms
- Additional crushed Oreos for topping
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Oreo “Dirt”
- In a food processor or a plastic bag, crush the Oreo cookies until they are fine crumbs, resembling dirt. Set aside about 1 cup of the crushed Oreos for topping.
Step 2: Make the Creamy Pudding Layer
- In a medium bowl, beat the softened cream cheese with powdered sugar and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy.
- In another bowl, whisk together the vanilla instant pudding mix and cold milk until it thickens (about 2 minutes).
- Fold the whipped topping into the pudding mixture until fully combined and smooth.
- Gently fold the cream cheese mixture into the pudding mixture, blending until fully combined.
Step 3: Assemble the Dirt Cake
- In a large trifle dish or a 9×13-inch baking dish, spread a layer of the crushed Oreos as the base (about 2 cups).
- Top the crushed Oreos with a layer of the pudding mixture, spreading it evenly.
- Repeat the layers: another layer of crushed Oreos followed by more pudding mixture until you run out of ingredients.
- Finish with a final layer of crushed Oreos on top, and sprinkle the reserved crushed Oreos to cover the entire surface.
Step 4: Garnish and Chill
- Garnish with gummy worms on top for the perfect “dirt” look.
- Cover the dish and refrigerate for at least 4 hours (or overnight) to allow the flavors to set and the dessert to firm up.
Step 5: Serve and Enjoy!
- Scoop into bowls, serve chilled, and enjoy this delicious and fun dessert!
