Sweetened Condensed Milk Snowballs

These snowball cookies are a holiday favorite! Made with sweetened condensed milk, coconut, and powdered sugar, they’re soft, sweet, and melt in your mouth. Perfect for cookie exchanges or a snowy winter treat!

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/4 cup sweetened condensed milk
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 cup powdered sugar (for coating)
  • 1 cup shredded sweetened coconut (optional, for coating)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Mix Wet Ingredients: In a large bowl, beat softened butter, sweetened condensed milk, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Mix in vanilla extract.
  3. Combine Dry Ingredients: In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until a soft dough forms.
  4. Shape Dough: Roll the dough into 1-inch balls and place them 2 inches apart on the prepared baking sheet.
  5. Bake: Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are just slightly golden. Do not overbake; the cookies should remain soft.
  6. Coat the Cookies: While still warm, roll the cookies in powdered sugar. For a festive twist, roll in coconut after the powdered sugar coating.
  7. Cool and Serve: Let the cookies cool completely on a wire rack before serving.

Tips for Perfect Snowballs

  • Use softened butter: This ensures the dough comes together smoothly.
  • Add coconut flavor: Mix a little coconut extract into the dough for extra tropical flair.
  • Double coat: Roll cookies in powdered sugar a second time for a thicker coating once they cool.
