Step 1: Make the Dough
1️⃣ In a small bowl, combine warm milk and yeast. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
2️⃣ In a large bowl, whisk sugar, egg, egg yolk, and melted butter. Add the yeast mixture and stir.
3️⃣ Gradually add flour and salt, mixing until a sticky dough forms. Knead for 8-10 minutes until smooth.
4️⃣ Transfer to a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise for 1 to 1.5 hours, or until doubled in size.
Step 2: Make the Cinnamon Filling
5️⃣ In a bowl, mix brown sugar and cinnamon. Set aside.
6️⃣ Roll out the risen dough into a 14×9-inch rectangle on a floured surface.
7️⃣ Spread softened butter over the dough, then sprinkle with the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
Step 3: Roll & Cut the Cinnamon Rolls
8️⃣ Tightly roll up the dough from the long side and slice it into 9-12 rolls.
9️⃣ Place the rolls in a greased 9×13-inch baking dish, cover, and let them rise for 30 minutes.
Step 4: Bake & Make the Glaze
🔟 Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
1️⃣1️⃣ While baking, beat cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, vanilla, and milk until smooth.
1️⃣2️⃣ Spread the glaze over warm rolls and enjoy!
Tips for Perfect Cinnamon Rolls
✔ Use Warm Ingredients: Warm milk and room-temperature eggs help the dough rise beautifully.
✔ Soft Dough = Soft Rolls: Don’t add too much flour! The dough should be slightly sticky but manageable.
✔ Overnight Option: Prepare the rolls, cover them, and refrigerate overnight. In the morning, let them sit at room temp for 30 minutes before baking.
✔ Extra Gooey Rolls: Pour ½ cup heavy cream over the rolls before baking for an ultra-soft, gooey texture.
